Five-time CAF Champions League winners Zamalek are believed to be tabling a bid for Mamelodi Sundowns' Zimbabwean international Khama Billiat.
Billiat's contract at Sundowns expires at the end of the month and it is widely accepted that he won't be staying on at the club with whom he won the 2016 Champions League, three domestic league titles and two major cup finals in five seasons.
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates had both been linked with the former Caps United and Ajax Cape Town winger, but with a big offer seemingly on the table, the 27-year-old may just be tempted to head to North Africa.
According to Zamalek TV, the Egyptian club, 12-time league winners, are set to make Billiat an offer of $450 000 per year, which equates to around R6.14 million per annum.
However, the report also claims that the club is eyeing out other potential recruits as well, in 'Hamid Ahad, Ivorian Giza, in addition to players from Latin America.'
Should Billiat, who recently scored a brace in the Cosafa Cup final against Zambia, end up signing for Zamalek, he will become the fourth player from the PSL to move to Egypt in the past year: former Bidvest Wits forward Phakamani Mahlambi is at Al Ahly, one-time Platinum Stars midfielder Gift Links is at Al Assiouty, with Namibian international and former Platinum Stars marksman Benson Shilongo on the books of Al Ahram.
However, Billiat won't be short of suitors, and apart from staying in the PSL or moving to Egypt, there is reportedly interest in Europe, the latest coming from Steaua Bucuresti of Romania, with Qarabag (Azerbaijan) and Swedish club Djurgardens also having been linked.
In other news, another Zimbabwean striker based in South Africa, Highlands Park forward Charlton Mashumba, has signed for Algerian giants USM Alger, who were Champions League finalists three years back.
"The Zimbabwean has signed a 3-year contract," the club posted on their Facebook account.
