Zambia, in southern Africa, is a landlocked country of rugged terrain and diverse wildlife, with many parks and safari areas. 

The country is a bucket list destination for many international travellers, who want to visit for its big 5, national parks and waterfalls.

1: The flag of Zambia was hoisted for the first time at midnight on the 23rd October 1964, symbolising patriotism and the nation’s natural resources.

2: The national bird is the fish eagle.

3: Zambia boasts Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

4. Lusaka is the capital of Zambia. It is home to the Freedom Statue that commemorates Zambia's struggle for independence, Munda Wanga Environmental Park hand the  Lilayi Elephant Nursery cares for orphaned elephants.

5: The local currency is kwacha.
