SuperSport United will only consider selling Jeremy Brockie in the next transfer window period (in January) if the club deliver another trophy in the next two months.
It is no secret that Mamelodi Sundowns wanted to break the bank for Brockie's services in the past transfer window. The New Zealander handed in a transfer request but SuperSport declined his plea.
SuperSport even accused Sundowns of poaching Brockie while he is still under contract with them. Stan Matthews, the club's CEO, said he will be open to offers for Brockie, but conditionally.
“If we have have won the Caf Confederation Cup by then, we will be open to offers for Jeremy," an elated Matthews said after SuperSport's MTN8 triumph in the final over Cape Town City on Sunday.
Matsatsantsa a Pitori won the match 4-2 in the penalty shoot-out after the sides were deadlocked 1-1 after full time and extra time produced no goals. Brockie did not finish the match as he made way for Dove Wome on 69 minutes.
"If we haven’t (won the Confed), maybe we will win the Telkom Knockout. Then we might also be open for offers. This is the third trophy he has won with us and I would like one more. And if he wants a big move, we won’t stand on his way."
Sundowns are desperately looking for a deadly striker and coach Pitso Mosimane had set his sights on Brockie.
The striker recently notched up his 50th goal for the club he has been with for just two years. Brockie is also the leading scorer, with nine goals, in the Caf Confederation Cup.
All expectations will be on him again to deliver important goals for SuperSport when they take on Tunisia's Club Africain in the semifinal, second leg of the semifinal of the continent's second tier club competition in Tunis on Sunday. The first leg ended in 1-1 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Meanwhile Matthews has said that his players will pocket R4 million for winning the MTN8.
“The players will take half. R4 million will go to the players and the rest will go to our staff. What is nice about SuperSport is that when we win, everybody at the club benefits"
