Opposition parties from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Monday marched to South Africa's ruling party, the African National Congress' (ANC) headquarters in Johannesburg to plead for support to return the former governor of the mineral-rich Katanga province, Moise Katumbi.

Opposition parties said they wanted the ANC to intervene for more efforts to ensure outgoing President Joseph Kabila allows Moise Katumbi to return to contest elections, and that Kabila does not interfere with December poll.

They thanked South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for "putting pressure on President Joseph Kabila not to contest elections and appointing former Thabo Mbeki as special envoy to ensure free and fair elections”.
