Women’s Day is rolling around and what better way to spend the day than in the company of women changemakers, pioneers and industry leaders. Fortunately, there is no shortage of uplifting celebrations taking place this long weekend, and African Independent plans to be front and centre at these events. Free State Fashion Week Women’s Day Breakfast
Award-winning business woman Cindy Jacobs is the Founder and CEO of Free State Fashion Week. Aside from providing an inspiring and informative morning of mingling and business talks, this breakfast serves as a fundraiser for students studying fashion design at the Free State Fashion Hub.The programme line-up includes Free State MEC of Finance Gadija Brown, luxury brand Ruby Red owner, Busi Ntsele, Crown Me Naturally founder and CEO Margo Fargo, Co-founder and CEO of YourSuperPower_GirlsTakeover Summit, Dipalesa Mbola and award- winning playwriter, poet and social activist, Tereska Muishond. Headlined by media darling, actress and business woman Pearl Thusi as guest speaker, and hosted by popular TV personality Somizi Mhlongo, this event is not to be missed.

Be Bold – Empower Me Women’s Day Lunch
This Women’s Day, Empower Me women’s network, in collaboration with Shimmy Beach Club in Cape Town, are celebrating the fiercely modern female. An afternoon of inspiring talks by experts in their fields – ranging from personal branding, female finance and tips on how to look and feel your best — is on the agenda, while Shimmy Executive Chef Adrian Cook will provide a delicious two-course meal and canapés.The programme, hosted by KFM’s Mamohau Seseane, promises to be a fun afternoon of exciting prize giveaways and live musical entertainment. Part of the proceeds will be donated to St Anne’s Home in Woodstock who provide care shelter for women and children.
