Contracts on the construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt with the participation of the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom have been approved by Egypt's State Council, the country's premier Sherif Ismail said on Tuesday, the country's Extra News television reported citing Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.

"Contracts for the nuclear power plant in Dabaa have been examined and approved by the State Council (Supreme Administrative Court) of Egypt," Ismail told reporters.

Russia and Egypt signed an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the Dabaa NPP, consisting of four 1,200-megawatt nuclear power units, in November 2015. The plant is expected to be built by Rosatom within 12 years.
